Among the root causes of oropharyngeal dysphagia include:

neurological disorders, such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis

a violation of the ENT: angina or pharyngitis, Zenker's diverticulum (hernia of the lining of the esophagus through the muscle wall), or a more serious offense like a cancer in this area.
Among the factors causing esophageal dysphagia include:

achalasia of the esophagus: the lower sphincter (which is a muscle) esophagus does not relax enough to let food into the stomach
diffuse spasm of the esophagus: esophageal contractions are uncoordinated and this can cause pain, in addition of course to difficulty swallowing
Scleroderma: disease that causes the development of scar tissue, which causes tissue hardening and loss of flexibility. The esophagus has difficulty achieving its normal peristaltic movements (automatic contraction advancing food in the digestive tract).
stenosis of the esophagus: narrowing of the esophagus that affects the passage of solid food
gastroesophageal reflux: gastric acid damage the esophageal tissue and may cause spasms, or a healing and a narrowing of the esophagus
