A study recently published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, shows that vinegar is effective to treat the ulcer.
Use vinegar as a treatment of an ulcer? Admittedly, the idea is rather surprising given its acidity, usually against-indicated in cases of ulcer. Yet this indispensable ingredient for seasoning could well prove to be the ally of your upset stomach.
If we knew the virtues of white vinegar in the house and the wine vinegar to control blood sugar, researchers from the National Nature Science Foundation of China come to highlight its benefits for treating ulcerative colitis, inflammatory disease of the intestine. The scientist is interested in acetic acid found in vinegar.
According to their work, he would destroy proteins to cause inflammation and improve the intestinal microbiota. To reach these conclusions, the research team tested acetic acid in mice with ulcerative colitis.
By adding a few drops of vinegar in their water, they found that their symptoms had decreased significantly. Stool analysis rodents also indicated that they contained high levels of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, beneficial bacteria to the body. In addition, inflammation of the proteins responsible have been reduced.
Scientists now hope that clinical testing may be performed to see if the results are as effective in humans.
